Good Taste/Bad Taste

Cool house, isn't it? It belongs to Joel Shumacher, a film director known for his entertaining albeit poorly executed movies (such as "Phantom of the Opera", "The Number 23", and the "Batman" movie w/ George Clooney.) I wouldn't have expected his house to look like this...but I love it!

Yes, it's a door knob.

Yes, I am blogging about a door knob. But who knew they could be so cool? This one is meant to look like an antique (apparently earlier generations were cooler than us and actually thought about what their door knobs looked like.) I love the design. It reminds me of The Lord of the Rings somehow, with a bit of Japan thrown in for good measure.

...Under the Shade of the Tree

Okay, so this might just look like a product plug, but as a design student and nature lover, I had to show you all this bed. It's at www.slmetalworks.com. I love the crazy whimsicalness of it...the bed looks like something from a children's book. It definitely has that Where the Wild Things Are or Peter Pan vibe. I love it.

Of lighting cubes and bounty hunter lamps...

Okay, one of my new favorite websites is www.uncrate.com. It's supposed to be a design website for guys, but most of the stuff is so cool that I thought I'd tell you about it. These lighting cubes can work as tables or even chairs (I like them a lot.) Make sure to see the egg chair and the bounty hunter lamp.

Ironic Sheets

While researching a design project I found these sheets on www.urbanoutfitters.com. I love the irony of toille featuring polluted, suburban sprawl. Very retro-chic funny.

Home Design: Ethnic Influence

This is a dinnerware set from World Market. I love the intricate yet subtle design. The pattern doesn't overpower you because of it's muted tone, yet it still is unique and definitely not boring. My favorites are the bowls. I like how they don't have the design on the outside.
